Executive Wellness
“Even if you succeed [as CEO], you may ultimately be forced to leave it prematurely. There is a high risk that while in the role you will have a limited life outside work and that the job will put tremendous strain on your health, happiness, and close family relationships and friendships.” – CEO “Health Warning” from Andrew Cave and Steve Tappin, authors of The Secrets of CEO’s
The real or perceived well-being of your senior executives has a direct impact on the financial well-being of your company.
When it was revealed that the founder of the MacDonald’s restaurant chain, Ray Kroc, had heart disease, the story goes that jittery investors withdrew some $6 billion in market capitalization from the company. More recently, in January 2011 when Apple Inc.’s CEO, Steve Jobs, announced his third medical leave in 7 years, Apple’s shares fell by 8% in Europe the day of the announcement and almost 3% on American markets the day after.
Not all companies, however, have Apple’s envious financial fundamentals to help support its market value when uncertainty hits. According to a Kaufman Bros. analyst, had Jobs’ announcement come a few years earlier, before Apple’s success with the iPhone and iPad, the hit on the company’s stock would easily have been 20 to 25%.
Work-life balance is critical for reducing stress and supporting optimal performance.
Today’s fast-paced, highly-competitive corporate landscape places many demands on executives and their families, especially their marriages. Conversely, the health of your executives’ personal intimate relationships has a profound impact on an executive’s emotional and mental well- being, which in turn directly affects their ability to perform their duties. It’s critical that any source of stress that impedes an executive’s well-being and effectiveness be dealt with quickly and decisively. This is as true for their personal relationships as it is for their physical health.
ISSI’s executive coaching and retreats support executives in their personal lives so problems at home do not impede their effectiveness in the office.
The gender-in-relationship skills executives learn in “Between Men and Women” are transferable and will transform their effectiveness in both personal and professional relationships. That transferability generates maximum value for your wellness dollars spent.
“This seminar provides the key strategies for improving and understanding the relationships between men and women, both in a professional and intimate context. I highly recommend it!”
– Chris Wein, Property development executive (Canmore, AB)
In addition, Andrew Cave and Steve Tappin in their book The Secrets of CEO’s, found that corporate executives,
“found their job ‘intensely lonely’ and did not know who to turn to for advice.”
Since executives sometimes feel the need to exercise discretion in discussing personal issues, participants can choose to attend “Between Men and Women”:
- in a private session involving only the executive and his or her spouse and an ISSI facilitator. The location of a private retreat is up to the executive. As in all our programs, the strictest confidence is always maintained.
- as part of a group. Upcoming dates for group retreats are available by CLICKING HERE.
